Industrial seals are critical components in industrial equipment that prevent the leakage of liquids, gases, and other working media while blocking the ingress of external contaminants such as dust and impurities. Although small in size, seals directly impact equipment stability, service life, and maintenance costs; they are widely used across sectors including machinery manufacturing, petrochemicals, automotive, construction machinery, energy, and home appliances.

Based on their operating mode and installation location, industrial seals are categorized into static seals and dynamic seals. Static seals are primarily used at fixed connection points-such as flanges, pipe fittings, and valve bodies-with common examples including O-rings and rubber gaskets. Dynamic seals are employed in areas involving relative motion, such as hydraulic cylinders, rotating shafts, and pistons; typical products include oil seals, hydraulic seals, and dust wipers.

A wide range of materials is used to manufacture industrial seals, including nitrile rubber (NBR), ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, fluoroelastomers (FKM), silicone rubber, polyurethane, and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Since different materials offer varying levels of resistance to oil, water, high temperatures, wear, and corrosion, the selection of material and design must be tailored to the equipment's specific operating pressure, temperature, medium, and mode of motion.

As industrial equipment evolves toward higher efficiency, higher operating pressures, and extended service lives, performance requirements for seals have become increasingly stringent. Modern industrial seals must not only provide effective sealing but also exhibit excellent wear resistance, aging resistance, and environmental adaptability. Through advancements in materials, design optimization, and improved manufacturing processes, industrial seals are evolving toward high performance, precision, and durability, thereby ensuring the reliable operation of diverse industrial equipment.
